How can
we help?
Most questions are answered below. If yours isn't, we're a single email away — and we read every one.
In an emergency, always call 000 first. Bryndis is a companion to emergency services, not a replacement for them. If you are in immediate danger, dial 000 (Australia), 999 (UK), 911 (US/Canada), or your local emergency number before anything else.
Frequently asked questions
How does the SOS button actually work?
From the home screen, you press and hold the SOS tile for two seconds. Releasing before the two seconds cancels — so you can't trigger it by accident. At two seconds, Bryndis captures your current GPS location and sends an alert to every trusted contact at the same time.
The alert is sent as a push notification first (if your contact has Bryndis installed, which is not required) and as an SMS via our delivery partner Twilio. SMS includes a tap-to-call number and a web link to view your location in any browser.
Do my trusted contacts need to install Bryndis?
No. We built Bryndis to work even if none of your contacts have it. Your trusted contacts only need a mobile phone capable of receiving SMS. The SMS includes a link they can tap to see your live location in a web browser — no install required.
What happens if my phone has no signal when I trigger an SOS?
If your device has no cellular or Wi-Fi connection at the moment of trigger, Bryndis stores the alert locally and retries every 15 seconds for the next 10 minutes. The instant connection is re-established, the alert is delivered, with the original trigger timestamp included so your contacts know when the event actually happened.
Find-your-car (with AR compass) works without any signal — heading data comes from your phone's compass and accelerometer.
Can I add someone as a trusted contact without telling them?
You can, technically — but we send a one-time SMS to every contact you add, letting them know they've been added to your trusted contacts on Bryndis and offering an easy opt-out. This is part of our commitment to honest, consent-based safety design under Australian privacy law.
How do I delete my account?
From inside the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. The action is one tap. Deletion is irreversible. All personal data associated with your account is permanently erased from active systems within 30 days, and from rolling backups within 35 days.
If you can't access the app for any reason, email privacy@bryndis.com.au from the address associated with your account and we'll process the deletion manually.
How do I cancel a paid subscription?
Bryndis subscriptions are billed through Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Bryndis → Cancel. Your access to paid modules continues until the end of the current billing period.
If you believe you've been incorrectly billed, you can request a refund through Apple's "Report a Problem" page, and we'll assist where the Australian Consumer Law applies.
What information does Bryndis collect about me?
The short version: account details, your trusted contacts, your location only when you're actively using a feature that needs it, and basic device diagnostics. We do not collect background location, your address book, microphone or camera content, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers, ever.
The full version is in our Privacy Policy.
Where is my data stored?
Your account data, trusted contacts, and safety event records are stored on Supabase infrastructure located in Sydney, Australia. SMS delivery is routed through Twilio's Australian carrier connections. Some routine processing — subscription state, push notifications — passes through Apple and RevenueCat servers in the United States.
Details on every overseas data flow are in our Privacy Policy, Section 6.
Is Bryndis available on Android?
Not yet. Bryndis is currently iPhone-only (iOS 16 and above). An Android version is on our roadmap. Subscribe to our updates from inside the app to be notified when Android opens for early access.
I think I found a bug. Where do I report it?
Email support@bryndis.com.au with a description, your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the Bryndis version (visible in Settings → About). If you can include a screen recording, even better. Critical bugs in core safety features are triaged within 24 hours.
Can I use Bryndis outside Australia?
The app works anywhere your phone has signal and your trusted contacts can receive SMS. Roaming charges may apply for SMS delivery overseas — these are billed by your carrier, not by us. For international SOS, always pair Bryndis with knowledge of the local emergency number.
